The 8 Extraordinary Meridians

The Eight Extraordinary meridians reveal an important structural concept in acupuncture therapy.

This relates to spatial relationships, body geometry, and tensegrity.

Dr. Tan's meridian system connections also reveal these kinds of structural and anatomical relationships.

The tai yang channels are paired, with SI 3 being the confluent point for the DU meridian, and UB 62 the confluent point for the yang qiao meridian. These points are often paired in TCM.

In Master Tung acupuncture the tai yang pair are used in diverse ways. The points 22.08 and 22.09 located near SI 3 are used to treat UB meridian sciatica, sacral pain, as well as urinary and kidney disorders.
