The Deep Back Arm Line
The indications for 44.03 are the same as 44.02 and these two points should be needled together. In myofascial anatomy they are located in the triceps and on the Deep Back Arm Line (DBAL). Points on the SI meridian and DBAL tend to work well for a variety of back, neck, and spinal problems.
As the infraspinatus and levator scapulae muscles are located on the DBAL, 44.02 & 44.03 can be used to treat pain at SI 11, SI 12, and SI 13. These points may also be used for rotator cuff pathologies, posterior shoulder pain, and frozen shoulder.
Pain between the medial border of the scapula and spine, as well as trigger points in the rhomboids (along the medial border of the scapula) can be treated with 44.02 and 44.03.
Pain in both the SI and UB meridians are responsive to these points, as the SI and UB meridians are both tai yang channels.
Some sources also indicate the use of these points for hypertension.
